Doughnut lovers, mark your calendars! National Doughnut Day is happening on Friday, June 1, and companies around the country are offering sweet, doughnut deals.
Celebrated annually on the first Friday in June, the “holiday” was started in 1938 to commemorate female volunteers who provided donuts and coffee to soldiers on the front lines in 1917 in France during World War I.
If you’re looking to get your hands on a treat, here are deals happening around the U.S.
Krispy Kreme: Get a free doughnut of their choice all day long. No purchase necessary.
Dunkin’ Donuts: The chain is offering guests a free classic donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage.
Tim Hortons: Only five U.S. locations will have “Gold Timbits” and the first guest to ask for them after 6 a.m. Friday at the select locations will get the edible 24k gold-covered Timbits for free and win free doughnuts for a year.
